POLICIES & PRACTICES

INTRODUCTION

We believe the Bible as the Word of God and authoritative for our conduct and life.  Based on the principles enumerated in the Bible, and the past practices followed by the Assemblies, we have listed them for future reference.

MEMEBERSHIP OF INDIVIDUALS IN THE CHURCH

All born again believers can become members of an Assembly.  There is no membership fee or registration.  However for the sake of issuing Certificates from the Church and also for legal purposes we are required to define our membership.  For such purposes we will consider those born again baptized believers who subscribe to the Statement of Faith and Church Policies & practices and regularly attend the Sunday Services as members.

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE

In our Assembly the activities are based on Acts 2:42.  Assembly hold the Sunday Worship Service consisting of Worship, Breaking of Bread The Worship part consists of a short exhortation to worship followed by individual members worshiping the Lord.  Sisters are also allowed to take part in the individual worship.  The breaking of the bread is preceded by combined (Table&Main Message) a short explanation regarding taking part in it clearly indicating the warning mentioned in 1 Cor 11:27,28 and Bible exposition. The Table with bread and the cup is usually kept in the centre of the congregation and the bread and the cup which are served from the Table are passed around to the congregation. It is customary to request the members who are ready to take part to raise their hands.  The serving of the Table is followed by the prayer of the Church.  The singing is led by two or three brothers.  Assemblies do not have singing choirs to lead in the singing. During the singing of the last song the congregation goes forward in a line, place their offerings in the offertory box and return back to their seats.

COVERING OF WOMEN’S HEAD

In our fellowship, the covering of head by women, during the entire length of service, is followed. This teaching is totally based on the Bible teachings, especially on the portion in 1 Corinthians 11:1-16.

WOMEN IN MINISTRIES IN CHURCH

The Prohibitive Verses: 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 & 1 Timothy 2:11-12

In the church, God assigns different roles to men and women.  Women are not to teach men or have spiritual authority over men because Eve was deceived. As a result, God has given men the primary teaching authority in the church.  This does not prevent the sisters from teaching children in Sunday School or teaching among women.

CHILD DEDICATION

We believe in dedicating the child by the parents rather than baptizing a child.  By dedicating the child the parents acknowledge in the presence of the Church that they have decided to bring up the child in the ways of the Lord. Therefore child dedication involves parents who themselves are spiritually mature and have decided to bring their child in the admonition and nurture of the Lord (Eph 6:4).

BAPTISM

We believe in baptizing adults who profess having accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, thus confirming the experience of new birth (John 3:3, 1:12,13).  Those who are desirous of testifying in the waters of baptism will be provided with teaching and counseling on relevant topics.

MARRIAGE

Marriage as per Biblical principles is between two children of God (2 Cor 6:14), one male and other female (Matthew 19:4-6).

He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. - Mark 16:15
